Terms of Service & Copyright

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TripMingle mobile application and website (the "Service"), operated by TripMingle ("TripMingle", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility & accounts

• You may register with an email and password or with Google Sign-In. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate trip and profile information.

3. What TripMingle does — and doesn't do

TripMingle helps users find other users ("minglers") whose planned trip matches their own, based on route and timing filters they set. TripMingle facilitates introductions, chat, and ride requests between users who choose to team up.

4. Trips, matching, and ride requests

• You can create, edit, and cancel your own trips, and view your trip history at any time.
• Matching is based on the filters you set: source affinity, destination affinity, and start-time tolerance.
• Either matched user may send a ride request from the chat; the other may accept or decline.
• If a request is declined, either user may send one further request. After two declined requests between the same two users, those users will no longer be shown to each other as matches.
• Once a request is accepted, both trips are linked and an optimized route is shown to both users. TripMingle does not control or guarantee the accuracy of third-party mapping or routing data.

5. Acceptable use

When using TripMingle you agree not to:

• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your trip details.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users in chat.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to arrange transport of illegal goods or unauthorized commercial ride-for-hire activity where prohibited by local law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's normal operation.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users.

6. User content

You retain ownership of the content you submit (trip details, profile information, chat messages). By submitting content, you grant TripMingle a limited license to store, process, and display it as needed to operate the Service — for example, showing your trip filters to a potential match, or your messages to the person you're chatting with.

The TripMingle name, logo, app icon, and in-app design are trademarks and copyrighted works of TripMingle and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without prior written permission.

All software, text, graphics, and other materials that make up the Service (excluding user-submitted content and third-party map data) are owned by or licensed to TripMingle and protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property law.

7.1 Copyright infringement notices (DMCA-style)

If you believe content on TripMingle infringes your copyright, send a notice to tripminglehq@gmail.com including: a description of the copyrighted work, the material you believe is infringing and its location, your contact details, and a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized.

8. Third-party services

TripMingle uses third-party services such as Google Sign-In and mapping/routing providers. Your use of those features is also subject to the relevant third party's own terms and privacy policy.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that matching, routing, or messaging will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TripMingle is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the conduct of any user — online or in person, including during any shared ride arranged through the Service. Your use of the Service, and any decision to meet or travel with another user, is at your own risk.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, or as required by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a mandatory local law provides otherwise.
